Where I'm coming from: my company works inside field service software every day, doing scheduling, dispatch, and invoicing for home service businesses. I don't get paid by any of these three companies, there are no affiliate links in this guide, and every price links to the vendor's own page.
Once you have more than a couple of techs, the whiteboard and the group text stop working. Jobs get double-booked, estimates get lost, and invoices go out late. That's usually when owners start comparing Jobber, Housecall Pro, and ServiceTitan.
I've spent more than 25 years in customer service, sales, and operations. In this guide I'll lay out what each one actually costs, which features sit on which plan, and which one tends to fit a small HVAC or plumbing shop. I've left out limited-time promotions, because they change every few weeks; the prices below are the regular list prices.
The short answer
- Jobber starts at $29 a month billed annually ($49 month-to-month) for one user. Plans that suit a small crew run from $149 a month billed annually for Connect with 5 users.
- Housecall Pro runs $59, $149, or $299 a month billed annually ($79, $189, or $329 month-to-month). Essentials includes 5 users and MAX includes 8.
- ServiceTitan doesn't publish prices. It's quoted per technician and is built for larger, growing shops.
- For most 1- to 10-person shops, the real choice is Jobber or Housecall Pro. Look at ServiceTitan once you have a dedicated office team and are adding techs every year.
Published prices, side by side
Jobber
Jobber's price depends on the plan and how many users you need. A "user" is anyone who logs in, at the office or in the field. Extra users are $29 a month each.
| Plan | Users included | Billed annually (per month) | Month-to-month |
|---|---|---|---|
| Core | 1 | $29 | $49 |
| Connect | 1 | $99 | $139 |
| Connect | 5 | $149 | $199 |
| Connect | 10 | $229 | $299 |
| Grow | 1 | $149 | $199 |
| Grow | 5 | $229 | $299 |
| Grow | 10 | $299 | $399 |
| Plus | 5 | $399 | $499 |
| Plus | 10 | $449 | $599 |
Jobber also lists 15-user versions of Connect, Grow, and Plus. It offers a middle option with a one-year commitment billed monthly. Add-ons include an AI Receptionist ($29/mo, included on Plus). Online card payments are 2.9% + 30¢. All prices are in USD and exclude sales tax.
Housecall Pro
| Plan | Users included | Billed annually (per month) | Month-to-month |
|---|---|---|---|
| Basic | 1 | $59 | $79 |
| Essentials | 5 | $149 | $189 |
| MAX | 8 (+$35/mo per extra user) | $299 | $329 |
Housecall Pro says there are no long-term contracts, card processing starts at 2.59%, bank payments are 1%, and its 14-day free trial gives you the MAX plan with no credit card. Its CSR AI call answering is sold separately and the price isn't published.
ServiceTitan
ServiceTitan lists three packages, Starter, Essentials, and The Works, and every one says "Request pricing." It says its pricing is per technician. Extras like the AI Virtual Agent, Contact Center Pro, and Dispatch Pro are sold as "Pro" add-ons. I haven't included the prices people post online, because I can't verify them; you'll need a quote.
Which features are on which plan
These are the features small HVAC and plumbing shops ask me about most. Each cell shows the lowest plan where the vendor's pricing page lists the feature.
| Feature | Jobber | Housecall Pro | ServiceTitan |
|---|---|---|---|
| Scheduling, quotes, invoices, online payments | All plans | All plans | All packages |
| Online booking | All plans | All plans | Ask in your demo |
| QuickBooks Online sync | Connect and up | Essentials and up | Ask in your demo |
| Job costing | Grow and up | All plans | Ask in your demo |
| Automated reminders and follow-ups | Connect and up | Checklist automations on Essentials; ask about reminders | Ask in your demo |
| Flat-rate pricing / price book | Ask in your demo | Price book on all plans; flat-rate on Essentials | Pricebook on all packages |
| Recurring maintenance plans | Ask in your demo (automatic payments for recurring work are listed) | MAX | Memberships on all packages |
| Payroll and commission tracking | Time tracking on Connect | Commissions on Essentials | All packages |
| AI call answering | $29/mo add-on (included on Plus) | CSR AI, price not published | AI Virtual Agent, Pro add-on |
Feature names differ by vendor, and plans change. Use this as a starting list and confirm in a demo or free trial. ServiceTitan's feature list is from its pricing page; I've written "ask in your demo" wherever a vendor's plan summary doesn't spell a feature out.
What a 5-person shop would pay
Say you have the owner, an office person, and three techs: five people who need to log in. These are made-up numbers, for the math only, using the list prices above.
| Option | Billed annually (per month) | Month-to-month | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Jobber Connect, 5 users | $149 | $199 | No job costing |
| Housecall Pro Essentials (5 users) | $149 | $189 | Includes job costing and QuickBooks sync |
| Jobber Grow, 5 users | $229 | $299 | Adds job costing |
| Housecall Pro MAX (8 users) | $299 | $329 | Adds maintenance plans, route optimization |
| ServiceTitan | Quote | Quote | Priced per technician |
Software fees only. Card processing, add-ons like AI answering, and sales tax are extra. Over a year, the difference between annual and monthly billing on these plans ranges from $360 to $840.
Which one fits your shop
- Solo or a two-person shop: Jobber Core ($29/mo annual) or Housecall Pro Basic ($59/mo annual) covers scheduling, quotes, invoices, and payments. Both offer a 14-day free trial.
- Three to eight people: this is where Jobber Connect or Grow and Housecall Pro Essentials or MAX compete head to head. If job costing and QuickBooks sync matter to you, check which plan includes them, because the two companies draw the lines in different places.
- Maintenance agreements are a big part of your revenue: look closely at Housecall Pro MAX and ServiceTitan, which list recurring service plans or memberships.
- Ten-plus techs with a dispatcher and CSRs: that's who ServiceTitan is built for. Get a quote, and ask about setup time and contract length.
Whatever you pick, the software only helps if someone keeps it up to date. I see a lot of shops paying for a good system where half the jobs never get closed out and the estimates never get followed up. That's a people problem, not a software problem.
Questions to ask before you sign
- Who counts as a user? Do techs who only view their schedule need a paid seat?
- What does the annual price lock in, and can I drop to a smaller plan at renewal?
- What are the card processing rates for in-person, online, and ACH payments?
- Will it sync with my accounting the way my bookkeeper needs? (More on that in bookkeeping for HVAC and plumbing companies.)
- Can my answering service or office team book into it directly? If you're fixing missed calls too, see how much missed calls cost.
- How do I get my data out if I leave?
